Bordeaux metallic red with an Oatmeal leather interior.
Built at Solihull in July 1981, a letter from the SD1 Club in 1981 identifies this car as one of the intermediate models between Series 1 and 2 (BA chassis number) It is a rare SD1 Vanden Plas 3500 automatic of which there are now few left. The specification includes central locking, electric windows all round, full leather interior, and an electric sunroof.
There are pictures and invoices in the file showing a bodywork overhaul some years ago and the interior was brought updated with new carpets, retrimmed front seats and various mouldings and trims have been replaced.
The history file is quite large with invoices and MOT certificates dating back to 1985 along with an original Rover Sales brochure and a Vanden Plas handbook.
A thorough re-commission was completed by a local specialist in February 2022 to the tune of £8,500 which included a new steering rack and pipework, new front brakes, a complete stainless exhaust system, a thorough service and attention to numerous electrical and trim faults. New tyres have recently been fitted all round. The MOT runs to March 2024.
In very smart condition, with a good history file and much recent attention, this handsome SD1 is a rare and interesting machine.
