In red with tan trim.
The last owner bought this GTE in 1984 and used it has his daily driver. In 1996 he started a chassis up restoration which, as an aircraft engineer, was well within his capabilites. The body was removed from the chassis which was refurbished, a reconditioned engine was fitted, the brakes renewed, and other components attended to as necessary. The interior had a new headlining and carpets and the leather seats were lightly refurbished. The bodywork was reparayed in red.
He used the Scimitar for a couple of years and then parked it up in a dry garage in 2003 and never drove it again. We acquired it a recently and re-commissioned it and it is now ready for futher adventures.
The interior is excellent, nice and dry and clean with a very good dashboard. The mechanics are also very good with a lusty engine and and a smooth gearbox. The chassis is superb with not a hint of rust anywhere.
Unfortunately, the skilled engineer was well versed in mechanical restoration, but not quite so good at paintwork skills. He painted the car himself and made a decent job of it, but twenty five years down the road there are now blemishes in the finish. The car looks perfectly presentable from a few paces away, but a full respray would make the SE5 truly special.
